23 Sep Profiles in Leadership – School Property Edition
Back in April, a guest blog contributor graded the School Board’s performance going back to 2018 and awarded them straight A’s – abysmal, absent, amateurish, and a variety of other ‘A’ words that are perfectly acceptable to use in polite society.
In this week’s short video, we take a look at School Board Leadership’s performance and how they have cared for, managed, equipped and maintained school property. https://rumble.com/v6z3uh8-ncsb-leadership-chapter-3-professionalism.html
And yes, the elementary school playground debacle is included in the video.
Side note reminder: the playground was included in long range plans as far back as 2014-15. The entire playground timeline can be found on BoardDocs – it was discussed at the Board of Supervisors’ meeting in November of 2024. If you need a refresher, the full playground timeline is available at this link: https://go.boarddocs.com/va/nuc/Board.nsf/files/DB6QWB6B4468/$file/playground_timeline.pdf .
The playground project is an unacceptable 10 year long Leadership and Management failure; no substantial actions to address playground deficiencies occurred between 2014 and last year. The previous superintendent, with the consent (and full support) of the current School Board leadership, did not fund the playground with grant funds as promised and now, the County finds itself having to explore loans to fund this project.
